SECURITY for the Kuala Lumpur 2017 SEA Games has been heightened with an estimated 8,000 personnel to be deployed during the opening of the biennial Games on August 19 at National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
Youth and Sports Minister YB Brig Gen Khairy Jamaluddin said members of the police force and army will join forces in ensuring security at the Games. “There are enough police personnel to monitor the traffic as well as security situation at all venues, including during the Games opening ceremony at Bukit Jalil,” said YB Brig Gen Khairy.
He added that the army has also been roped in to ensure tight security at all competition venues such as KLCC, Bukit Jalil, Nilai and MITEC.
“The police will be on a 24-hour watch in the city. To fans and spectators, please use the public transport to go to the respective competition venues.
“There are designated LRT and MRT stations along the Bukit Jalil Sports Complex route. It will be better and easier to commute on the LRT and MRT instead of driving there and parking bays are limited,” added YB Brig Gen Khairy./. (kualalumpur2017.com)
