Winners of painting contest in responding to ASIAD 17 annouced

Le Thu Phuong, a student from Ngo Sy Lien junior secondary school, won the first prize of painting contest in responding to the 17th Asian Games in Incheon, Korea at Hanoi’s Children Culture Palace on Saturday (August 9th).

Phuong’s painting, titled ’Tennis match’, beat 140 contestants to win the first prize of VND3 million from the Vietnam Olympic Committee (VOC).

The painting contest organizing committee also presented 15 awards to contestants including certificates, merit certificates and medals of honor and cash-prizes.

The winner walked away with a cash prize of VND3 million, while the runner-up pocketed VND2 million. Two third place prizes shared for VND1 million each, and 11 encourage prizes were awarded with VND200,000 each.

The painting contest was launched by Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) for kids in the age of 11-15 years old in Asia.


The contest in Vietnam, which was collaborationally launched by the Vietnam Olympic Committee (VOC) and Hanoi’s Children Culture Palace from June, received 300 entries in two months, 141 of which were chosen for the final selection.

All paintings focused on titles: My Asian Games, My Hope; Sport, Way of life and ‘Our tradition and Culture’.

VOC has sent the first prize painting to Korea in a competition with other painting winners from 45 Asian countries.

As the rule of OCA, the contest winner in Asian level competition in Incheon, Korea, and his (or her) escort man or woman will be invited to all main events of the Asian Games in Incheon from September 19 to October 4th by the organizing committee of the 17th ASIAD. The winner will be honored at the Asian Games closing ceremony.

The list of jury for the painting contest in responding to the 17th Asian Games is:

1-Associated Professor Mr. Hoang Vinh Giang, Vice chairman of Olympic Council of Asia; standing vice chairman of Vietnam Olympic Committee; head of the jury.

2-Mr. Vi Kien Thanh, head of the Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition Department; deputy head.

3-Mr. Tran Van Manh, general secretary of Vietnam Olympic Committee; deputy head.

4-Mr.Nguyen Tien Dung, head of Fine Arts office under the Hanoi’s Children Culture Palace; member

5-Dao Quoc Huy, lecturer of Hanoi Fine Arts College; member.
