This figure was given by the leaders of the Vietnam Sports Administration at the Press Conference for the second quarter of the year in Hanoi.

According to the leaders of the Vietnam Sports Administration, in the first six months the Vietnam Elite Sports has positively focused on the preparation for the 29th SEA Games, the 9th ASEAN Para Games in Malaysia, the 5th Asian Martial Indoor Games and Martial Arts, the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Indonesia, the 10th World Games in Poland, the Pacific Games in Russia and other regional, continental and world competitions; prioritised the training for 64 outstanding athletes and coaches in 19 sports; organised 82 national sport tournaments and 12 international sport tournaments in Vietnam, and 22 training classes for Elite Sport coaches and athletes.

During the first six months of 2017, Vietnam Sports won 335 medals from international competitions: 136 gold medals, 104 silver medals, 95 bronze medals. Among the outstanding performances of Vietnam Sports, it is indispensable to highlight the great achievements of the Vietnamese women football team which qualifies for the final at the Asian Cup 2018 in Jordan; the Vietnamese women volleyball teamfor the first time won a bronze medal at the 2017 Asian Women’s U23 Volleyball Championship; Olympic champion Hoang Xuan Vinh won silver medal in male air pistol event at the Shooting World Cup and gold medal in 10m air pistol at the South East Asia Shooting Championship.

For the remaining six months of 2017, the Vietnam Sports will focus on the preparation for the 29th SEA Games and the 9th ASEAN Para Games in Malaysia, the 5th Asian Martial Indoor Games and Martial Arts in Turkmenistan, the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Indonesia, the 2nd Asian Youth Para Games in Indonesia, the 10th World Games in Poland, the Pacific Games in Russiaand other regional, continental and world competitions.
