After defeating the host nation football team U15 Thailand on the 22/7 for gaining the South East Asia champion title at the U15 ASEAN Football Federation Cup 2017, Mr Nguyen Ngoc Thien, Minister of Culture, Sport and Tourism, President of Vietnam Olympic Committee, has sent a congratulation letter for U15 Vietnam football team coach Vu Hong Viet and his team.

In the letter, Mr Nguyen Ngoc thien wrote:  "On behalf of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, I warmly congratulate and applaud the efforts of Vietnam’s coach Vu Hong Viet and all officials, coaches and U15 football team.

I’m looking forward to the team promoting seamlessly the spirit of solidarity, discipline, effort in training and competition to gain more achievements.First of all there will be the qualifying round of the U16 Asian Football League, held in September, in Mongolia. I wish the team healthy and successful. "

The final round of the Southeast Asian Championship U15 AFF Cup 2017 takes place in Thailand from 10 to 22/7. Before defeating Thailand in the final with a dramatic 4-2 victory in the penalty shoot-out, the U15 team had a six winning matches with 18 goals being made, being scored two goals in the qualifying round and semi-final. The team won U15 Cambodia with the score of 2-1, U15 Brunei with 2-1, U15 Philippines with 7-0, U15 Malaysia with 1-0, U15 East Timor with 4-0 in Group B and over strong opponent U15 Australia with 2-0 in the semi-finals.

One day after the historic victory, on the 23rd of July the Vietnam U15 team returned to their country withfans warmly welcoming their national heroes home. Speaking at Noi Bai airport, coach Vu Hong Viet said: "I feel extremely happy and proud of U15 Vietnam of winning the title of champion in South East Asia. Winning this title with the witness of Thai people in their home soil makes me feel overjoyed. We will continue to actively train and enhance this achievement in the upcoming continental competition in September”./.
