Final touches for 2017 SEA Games venues
Final touches for 2017 SEA Games venues
01/08/2017 15:07
With less than three weeks before the athletes start flocking in to Kuala Lumpur for the 29th SEA Games, the Malaysia Organising Committee (MASOC) are intensifying efforts to ensure that all venues are ready by the time competition commences on Monday, August 14.

Youth and Sports Minister YB Brig Gen Khairy Jamaluddin said MASOC had been conducting regular inspections to guarantee that main clusters, hubs and venues were fully prepared to play host to the regional sports extravaganza involving 11 National Olympic Committees.

"In the last three weeks before the Games officially open on August 19 we will ensure that all shortcomings are rectified. We still have time,” he said, after launching the Sepaktakraw League in Putrajaya on Tuesday, July 25.

Over the past few weeks, several test events have been held by organisers and national sports associations to test the level of progress and readiness of venues, facilities and technical aspects. "There was positive feedback from participants and countries on the standard of our facilities and venues. We’ve tested the main ones such as the Bukit Jalil Stadium and the feedback was positive,” he said.

"Our focus now is to ensure that main clusters like MITEC are well prepared in all aspects including the competition hall, results management system and the scoring system. Athletes will be able to test the venues at MITEC beginning August 1,” he added.

MITEC will also house the Main Press Centre (MPC) and International Broadcast Centre (IBC)./. (Ocasia.org)
