In the report on the preparation for participating in the 30th SEA Games, Mr. Vuong Bich Thang, General Director of Vietnam Sport Administration and Vice President of Vietnam Olympic Committee, informed that until now, the competition programme of the 30th SEA Games has been officially and fully announced by the host nation (the Philippines) which includes 56 sports (63 sports and disciplines) with the expected participation of 8750 athletes from 11 countries in the South East Asian region.
It is expected that at this SEA Games edition, Vietnam sports team will compete in 36/56 sports, with more than 500 athletes, striving to rank 3rd in the overall medal tally. In the techinical preparation, the teams are currently focusing on training at four National Sports Training Centers in a spirit of efficiency and logic, under close supervision of trainers and experts.
Moving to the second item on the meeting agenda, the overall SEA Games 31 preparation and organization project was also reported by leaders of the Vietnam Sport Administration. General Director Vuong Bich Thang said that it is expected that in April 2019, after completing the site inspection, consult with the concerned government departments, the Project will be submitted to the Government for review.
The 31st SEA Games will be held at the end of November 2021, in Hanoi and some northern provinces such as Hai Duong, Bac Ninh, Vinh Phuc, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh... The number of sports in the 31st SEA Games is about 36-40, which include Olympic, Asian Games, and Southeast Asian sports.
Regarding the development of the overall 2021 SEA Games preparation and organization project, Deputy Minister Le Khanh Hai fully agreed with the content presented by the leaders of the Vietnam Sport Administration. However, he requested that the Vietnam Sport Administration should coordinate closely with the local departments to host events efficiently and smoothly. This not only creates an impressive image of Vietnam's physical training and sports facilities in the eyes of international friends, but this is also a premise for the development of Vietnamese sports in the future.
