President and Prime Minister congratulate Vietnam U23s
27/02/2022 19:09
After Vietnam beat Thailand 1-0 in the final of the 2022 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U-23 Championship to win the title for the first time, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent his warmest congratulations to the players, coach Dinh The Nam and the entire coaching staff on February 26.
The State leader shared with the team about the difficulties due to the fact that many players were infected with COVID-19 during the tournament. With a squad of mostly new players, they have not had time to practice together, however they have shown Vietnamese bravery and will and played resiliently in accordance with the spirit of the “Gold Star Warriors”, proving worthy of winning the championship title.

On the occasion, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc also sent his warm regards to the players infected with COVID-19, wishing them a prompt recovery so they may soon return to the pitch.

The President proposed the Vietnam Football Federation to have a worthy reward for the team and continue to care and invest in the development of youth football in a professional and methodical manner so that Vietnamese football can assert its position in larger playing fields in Asia, thereby preparing for the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

* Right after the final match of the 2022 AFF U23 Championship, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated and praised all the players and the coach staff of U23 Vietnam.

Along with the achievements of the national women’s football team and the national men’s football team in the past month, Vietnam now has more faith and hope about the development of national football in the future.

PM Chinh also took the occasion to acknowledge and praise Vietnamese organisations and individuals abroad, and especially the fans across the country, who have always accompanied, shared, cheered and stood side by side with the team during their recent arduous journey, contributing to creating synergy to help the team gain more meaningful victories in the future./.
