Bac Ninh Sport University welcomes Hangzhou Asian Games Fun Run to Vietnam

Hanoi, Vietnam, March 8, 2023: More than 1,500 people, including Government leaders, officials, professors, coaches, athletes and artists joined the local community in the Vietnam leg of the Hangzhou Asian Games Fun Run at Bac Ninh Sport University on Wednesday, March 8.

The event also celebrated Vietnam Sports Day and International Women's Day.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr. Dang Ha Viet, Chairman of Vietnam Sports Administration, Vice President of Vietnam Olympic Committee, said: “The Fun Run has been held in 14 countries and territories so far, including Vietnam.

“Aiming to support and promote the biggest continental sports Games, the Fun Run at Bac Ninh Sport University included cultural performances, sports knowledge and a competition about the history of the Olympic Games and Asian Games as well as a 2km race around the university.”

Mr. Wissam Trkmani, OCA Director of Projects and Administration Affairs, said the Fun Run goal was to support and promote the biggest continental sports festival by combining sport with culture, sharing the Olympic spirit and encouraging greater community participation

Ms. Ye Hong, Deputy Director, Marketing Department at the Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee, added: “The Asian Games Fun Run helps spread joy and hope across Asia, enhances friendship among people in different countries and regions around Asia and increases public interest in the Hangzhou Asian Games.”

The event was organised by the Olympic Council of Asia and the Vietnam Olympic Committee to promote the 19th Asian Games, which will take place in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8, 2023.
