Cambodia plans 'Olympic level' opening ceremony for SEA Games 32
Cambodia plans 'Olympic level' opening ceremony for SEA Games 32
30/04/2023 21:54

The host Cambodia is expected to organize an opening ceremony for the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) to the Olympic standard.

All images related to the ceremony, which is slated for May 5 in Phnom Penh, will be kept secret until the last minute.

The official Facebook page of SEA Games 32 issued a notice on Tuesday afternoon to ban photography and filming at the rehearsal activities for the opening and closing ceremonies of the sports event. According to the announcement, the above regulations are applicable to all fans and participants at the rehearsals.

The announcement came just a day after Secretary General of the Cambodia SEA Games Organizing Committee (CAMSOC) Vath Chamroeun confirmed that the opening and closing ceremonies will be performed at an "Olympic level" standard.

He underlined that besides the impressive opening and closing ceremonies, the Organizing Committee believes that the host country Cambodia will ensure the technical stages and competition venues.

Meanwhile, Cambodia has decided to offer free tickets to all sports, as well as free accommodation, meals and travel costs for 11 sports delegations, along with free medical and emergency services during the event. The move is expected to help the Southeast Asian country to lure more tourists and create a boost in tourism growth.

According to local media, in order to prepare for the largest sport event in the Southeast Asian region, Cambodia has mobilized over 6,000 volunteers, including workers from national sports federations. In total, including paid staff positions, there are nearly 10,000 people who will be working on the games in some capacity./.
