Vietnam hosts virtual torch relay responding to 2014 Youth Olympic Games

A virtual torch relay responding to the second Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Nanjing, China was held at Vietnam Olympic Committee (VOC) headquarter in Hanoi on July 7th.

Attendants to the event were deputy head of the National Sport Administration, Mr. Pham Van Tuan, who is standing member of the Vietnam Olympic Committee; VOC’s General Secretary, Mr. Tran Van Manh; VOC’s head of secretariat Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung and representatives of sport departments and youths from VOC and National Sport Administration.

As scheduled, the second Youth Olympic Games is scheduled in Nanjing, China on August 16-28.

The torch relay of the second Youth Olympic Games (YOG) started from Athens, Greece from April 30th. Meanwhile, a virtual torch procession has passed 204 countries and territories and 258 spots for 108 days. Vietnam was the 197th destination of the virtual torch relay between 4pm and midnight of July 7th, 2014.

The virtual torch procession offered participants joining the event by clicking on  ‘responding’ symbol at ‘torch relay’ item on the YOG website: www.nanjing2014.org.


Speaking at the event, deputy head of Viet Nam National Sport Administration, Mr. Pham Van Tuan stressed: “The event is held in responding to the biggest sport event of young people over the world. It helps youths in the world enhance their understanding of the Olympic value and honour sport spirit. The virtual torch relay also encourages Vietnamese athletes and Vietnam sport delegation competing the second YOG in Nanjing, China with the best form and earn good results.”./.
