The event, which was organised by Viet Nam Olympic Committee and Viet Nam National Sport Administration in response to the United Nations and the International Olympic Committee on prevention of accidents and wound among children, drew the participation of 169 swimmers from 14 teams in Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Ha Noi, Dong Nai, Binh Dinh and Quang Ninh.
Competitors contested in the events of the men’s doubles (Father and Son), women’s doubles (Mother and Daughter) , Mixed doubles (Father-Mother-Son) and Father-Mother-Daughter) in age groups of under 45, 46-60 and over-60.
Speaking at the event’s opening ceremony, head of the organising committee, general secretary of Viet Nam Olympic Committee, Mr. Tran Van Manh said:”The competition was held in celebration of the 69th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day (2nd September). It also was a sport event continuing the response to the late President Ho Chi Minh’s call the whole people for exercise and sport training in 2011-20 period. The event will encourage all people go training swimming in an effort to reduce drowning, especially among children in the flood and storm affected areas. The competition is also an opportunity for families nationwide exchanging life experience and boosting the friendship among families in different regions and areas in the country”.
Eventually, Dong Nai team ranked first with total 16 medal sets (four golds, nine silvers, three bronzes), while Quang Ninh were runners-up, bagging four gold medals.
Thanh Tri district team from <st1:place w:st="on">Hanoi placed third with four golds.
Binh Dinh came fourth with three golds, while Hai Phong were in fifth place with eight medal sets (two golds, three silvers, three bronzes)./.
