An International Yoga Festival kicked off in Da Nang City on June 11, attracting more than 1,500 yoga practitioners throughout the city.

The two-day event is hosted by the Da Nang city People’s Committee to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam – India diplomatic ties (1952-2022) and the eighth International Yoga Day (June 21).

The festival includes yoga performances by Indian yoga masters, a mass yoga performance by members of yoga clubs in Da Nang and Quang Nam province, and booths showcasing Da Nang culture and tourism.

In his opening speech, Chairman of the Da Nang City’s Union of Friendship Organisations Nguyen Ngoc Binh, who is also head of the festival’s organising board, said that the event aims to promote the dynamic and hospitable image of the land and people of Da Nang to both domestic and international tourists while contributing to strengthening the solidarity, friendship and cooperation between Da Nang and India.

The festival also sought to introduce the practice of yoga and Indian culture to Da Nang people, he added./.
