THE Malaysia Organising Committee (MASOC) Kuala Lumpur 2017 on Tuesday (23 May 2017) inked a sponsorship agreement with Grab as part of its effort to ensure smooth transportation for fans, spectators and the public during the SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games.

Grab’s inclusion as a sponsor will make it a top choice for the public to move around during the 2017 Games, especially to competition venues. Grab joined KL2017 as a Gold Sponsor, with estimated sponsorship of more than RM6 million which covers cash, in kind sponsorship, as well as marketing support via digital platform and internal channels such as social media channels and Electronic Direct Mail (EDM).

Grab, Southeast Asia’s leading e-hailing platform, will provide several initiatives to enhance travelling experience during KL2017 including providing buggy service from security checkpoints to stadium entrance for Grab riders, elderly folks, senior citizens and audience with limited mobility or persons with a disability (PWD).

As the “Official Ride-Hailing Partner” of the Games, Grab will work hand in hand with MASOC in providing the best travelling and experience for spectators, fans, athletes and officials during the two-week Games.

Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Seri Zolkples Embong, signed on behalf of MASOC while Grab was represented by the Country Head of Grab Malaysia, Sean Goh. Earlier, Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Brig. Gen. Khairy Jamaluddin and Grab’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Anthony Than shared a Grab ride to attend the event. Also present, OCM Secretary General Datuk Low Beng Choo, MASOC Chief Operating Officer En Shaiful Subhan, Vice-President of Legal and Public Affairs of Grab Malaysia, Mr Zafrul S Hashim and Head of Marketing, Iris Chang.

YB Brig Gen Khairy said Grab’s participation in KL2017 is paramount to ensure the smooth movement of more than 7,000 athletes, officials, guests, and millions of fans and spectators at competition venues in and outside Klang Valley.

This would help reduce congestion at the Games area while providing a more comfortable and economical initiative for sports fan.

Grab’s contribution will come many forms, including promoting KL2017 at airport areas such as KLIA, KLIA 2 and Subang Skypark Terminal (SST). Inbound KL2017 tourists from other ASEAN countries will get to enjoy special offers via Grab promo codes.

Grab will also provide customised Virtual KL2017 Point of Interest at every Games venue to help smoothen the journey of the crowd.

“Even though Grab has been around for only five years, today, its application is considered a “must have” in almost all of our mobile devices”, said Sean. (kualalumpur2017.com)
