Thach Kim Tuan of Vietnam won three gold medals at the 56-kg weight division in the 2017 World Weightlifting Championships in Anaheim, USA.

The Vietnamese weightlifter succeeded 126 kg Clean and 153 kg Jerk and managed to stand on the highest place of the podium with a Total of 279kg. Despite not achieving hist best performance (131 kg Clean and 151 kg Jerk at the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat), Vietnam still won three gold medals in the men's 56 kg weight division at the 2017 World Weightlifting Championship.

Competing alongside the 2014 Youth Olympic champion in the same weight division is his teamate Tran Le Quoc Toan who won two silver medals in Clean (after lifting 119 kg), with a total of 270kg, and a bronze medal in Jerk (151kg). At the moment, the Vietnam team stays on top of the championship medal table with 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal.

With his personal results in Anaheim, Thach Kim Tuan climb to the third place among the winners of the most gold medal at the world weightlifting championships, with 10 medals. He is now in the same rank as Wang Shin-yuan (Taiwan), behind Wu Jingbiao (China, 12 gold medals) and Long Qingquan (China, 12 gold medals).

The 2017 World Weightlifting Championships in Albania, USA is be held from 28 November to 5 December 2017.
